I think Manhattan should have a zoo, only not with multiple exhibits. ALL animals should be put in just in one large exhibit. It would save space and your time for to having to  walk around to all the exhibits. A new concept for the zoo layout community to look into I believe.
I wish I would have thought of this.

I too went to the Omaha zoo last summer. My favorite part was the Gorillas. We were looking at this one sitting on the ground, like in a crouched position, and then all of the sudden he jumped and smacked into the glass with all four feet and then bounded off. It startled me so much that I took a step back and almost fell over my kids stroller. And speaking of strollers never, ever try to push one around the Omaha zoo. So many hills.  Steep, steep hills. Need escalators or something.

start by going to the nocturnal and desert dome to your left as you enter because they get packed once the zoo gets busy later in the day and are awful when packed because you can't really walk around people. then head back to the right and hit the rainforest and aquarium. these are all on the top part so no hills yet. now you go down the hill to the let checking the nursery then gorillas and orangutans. hit the bears and cats on the bottom of the hill and then petting zoo and prairie dog village. pretty much have all the major stuff hit unless you want to check out monkey island or the elephants/rhinos but they just stand there and eat hay so I think they are pretty pud. anyway, at the bottom by the gorillas/cats there is a big ass elevator that will take you back to the top. no walking uphill with a stroller. boom, headshot.

They're probably equally confused by our zoos having camels.

Yeah, but there's not packs of wild camels roaming our streets.

You can feed the giraffes at the Dallas Zoo.

Dallas Zoo is not as good at the Ft Worth Zoo but has gotten much better in the past few years.

No, but they did have 2" thick bulletproof-like glass between me and it as well as a steel rail.  I mean, there was no way for me to steal it.

I once went to the St Louis Zoo in the winter. It was terrible other than the hairless albino monkey. So unless there's a real game changer in the primate pit, I'd say no.

Puerto Vallarta zoo is pretty cool.   I'll post some pics this weekend.   Nothing like standing 18" from a full grown tiger.

the absolute worst part about the kc zoo is that it's sooooo spread out.  there's that huge "africa" area that has nothing running through it and no way to see 90% of it.  all of the animals just hang out in the middle and you can't even see them most of the time...and that's after you spend 30 minutes getting out there.  the polar bear(s) are the only thing great about it.  doesn't hold a candle to omaha.

Zoos remain incredibly boring and a waste of time. Also, I bet the animals don't like being in a zoo.
Where did you get that overnight bag?

I do the entire Africa loop routinely with a 2 year old and no stroller.

I saw one orangutan orally please another orangutan today at the KC Zoo. Never seen that before. The receiver, lying on her back, made eye contact with me.  :sdeek:
