At the Puerto Vallarta zoo you can hand feed just about anything.  For like 5 bucks you get to play with baby lions/tigers/pumas, no joke.

Sooo.....next year's vacation will be to Puerto Vallarta.

Yeah... PV just became very (and unexpectedly) intriguing.  Zoo= Awesome.  Beaches= Awesome.  Cartel wars?

To be fair, for $5, you can do just about anything you want with an animal in Mexico.

We didn't hear of any trouble in that area.  It's been a few years since me and the mrs went.  The police carry large guns and were seen quite frequently.

I prefer aquariums.

my zoo has a fantastic aquarium

Quote
The Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium will re-open on April 5 with a new look. Don't worry; all of your favorites are still there. You will still be able to walk through the tunnel and penguins still call the Aquarium home, but now there will be new animals to see...more than 1,000!

The Scott Aquarium is getting new carpet, air-handling system, ceilings, wall finishes, flooring, interpretive graphics and digital monitors. Special lighting, curved wave walls and wider paths will usher you through this renovated exhibit. Each area of the Aquarium will have a specific sound representative of the natural environment. Many of these areas have murals to help depict the aquatic environment.

Good news SD!  Your fantastic getting more fantastic.

Wait...I'm going to the Omaha Zoo in the morning.  Does this mean the aquarium's closed!?  :horrorsurprise:

EDIT: Just checked.  Yup...it's closed alright.  Goddammit.  My 4 year old son's gonna hate me.  :frown:

Do you have carousel? Does the carousel have a KSU panther?

A steam train is pretty classy.  KC's train is total pud.

went to Omaha this summer.  was nice, but I think it suffered from too big of expectations.  It was nice, but not what I thought it would be.

Expected it to be bigger for one thing.  everyone always told me how much time you need to see it.  We went for a half a day, then came back expecting to spend another half to full day(had been told it takes 2-3 days to see it all) and we were all "wow, we should have just stayed an hour longer yesterday then we could have gone and hit the children's museum".

Bears were cool and my kids liked sitting in the hippo statue mouth, but the aquarium was awesome.  The desert dome is just a bunch of rocks and crap.  The building is the most impressive thing about it.

Also, all the animal habitats were small.  When I see large animals in something the size of my back yard it makes me sad.
