they are muscles just like any other.  they get bigger.  If there is a layer of fat on top of them they will make you bigger.

Like trying to get rid of man boobs by bench pressing.  It will just give you bigger man boobs unless you lose the fat.

Adding muscle mass burns more calories.  If your goal is not to be a fatass, building muscle certainly isn't the wrong way to go.  "Hey everybody, I'm sexy eric! Look at my loose skin and bones bod!! So effing hot right now bros!!!"  No.  Runners' bods suck.

Not a runner.  I'm 6 2 and about 225 right now.  Trying to get down to 215.

If you work out now, you could probably take care of this with calories pretty easily.

Seems pretty silly to blanket anything from a certain publication as complete garbage

What I like about mens health workouts is that they are light weight, heavy core, stuff you can do in your living room with minimal equipment.  And they don't take a ton of time.  I will circuit through their 4 minute workouts and feel like a million bucks afterward.

You should probably do heavier weights with them then.

all those sit ups and crunches are just going to give you a gut unless you lose the fat.  big abs under fat make you have a big belly.

i've wondered about this.  :frown:

Oh man, watched a video of me destroying this dude in wrestling and I was like  :sdeek: I used to look like that.

Everyone has their own opinions and preferences, but I personally don't recommend running for anything but cardiovascular\mental benefits. Anything to do with muscle usually doesn't involve any type of running besides maybe sprint exercises.

Like ten yrs ago, I lost 20 pounds in two months while on Weight Watchers while eating an F load of fruity pebbles and coco pebbles for breakfast every morning.

For this next "phase" of my efforts, I am going to transition to doing more lifting.  High rep, low weight.  I did the jogging and WW to peel off the fat.  Now I am ready to "sculpt."

I will probably be a doppelganger of Matthew Mcconaughey by the end of the summer.
