peggies of morning workout:
-shower and towel at the gym, saving my own water, energy, and effort (#ack)
-hard time limit so I am more efficient with my workout time
-not crowded, not smelly
-not having to choose between going out for dinner/drinks/etc after work and going to the gym

Jealous of your morning workout time. Have to get the kids up and out daily.

I get up at 4:30 twice a week to go to a 5:30 pilates class and I feel bulletproof the rest of the day. Don't think I could do it more than 3x a week though...not typically a morning person!

It takes you an hour to get ready for yoga?

Any swimmers out there? I would like to calculate how far i'm swimming/calorie loss by swimming. Not sure what's considered a lap (down and back)? I was counting 1 trip down as 1 and back as 2, so I put in 60 last night in an hour. Is that decent? Super sore today.

Weight lifters, is it bad to do push moves on one day, pull moves on the next day, AND THEN the third day right back to push and the fourth day do pull?

Is that failing to give muscles enough time to recover?  I read that I should give it 48-72 hours, and that is 48 hours technically, but do I negate that by jumping right back into lifting with no off day?

I see some people do push, pull, legs on sequential days, then start the cycle over again on the 4th with push...and so on.  I’d rather rough ridin' skip legs and rely on my running and riding for that.

i thought the new shizz was to just do all the stuff in one day, every other day.

like hit all parts of the body on Tuesday, then do it again on Thursday. whether you do the exact same lifts to hit those body areas is optional.

M - push
Tu - pull
W - push
Th - pull
F - off
Sa - push
Su - pull

Am I hurting my growth by doing that?

That’s how I started out a couple years ago and lost a ton of fat.  I was doing high rep, low weight.  But my experience is that I cannot do big weight like that....not enough time in my workout a availability.

I have literally never done any kind of squat, and don’t even know the difference between those you mention. If, IF, I do legs I do all the nautilus leg machines and call it good.

Pete, I think that as you get older, you might need more rest. You might try longer rest periods if you aren't seeing gains, but if you aren't too sore and are making gains, you probably don't need it.

Christ.  I can’t tell.  I should just sack up and do the rough ridin' squats on day 3.  God damn it.

try out the smith machine for squats sometime if you aren't comfortable yet with regular squats. I think it'd be great for you.

Pete, you don't want to push yourself too hard the first time you do squats. It's something you definitely want to get used to over a week or two before you start trying to get stronger.

Pete tbh I think you are done growing.  Most people stop growing around ~20ish.  So I think this would be just fine to do.

You are overtraining IMO.   Also, have you looked at bloodwork recently to know what your free T or vitamin D levels are at?

OK, you guys shamed me into doing legs.  Just did fairly big leg routine, but did leg press machine instead of squats.  I also consulted with the hottest dude at the gym and he said I need to do push, pull, legs, so there you have it. Science.
