I bet a parents house gym sesh is good too

I built this gym piece by piece while I was in undergrad. It's great. The floor is lined with stall mats. I have a power rack, a texas power bar, a crappy CAP bar, plate loadable dumbbells, an ez curl bar, over 1200 lbs in plates, a dip station, a loading pin with multiple grip attachments, some medicine balls and some other junk. I love working out here.

wow

you should sell memberships on craigslist

nah

Add a comfy rest of the house, some kids, a TV, and neftlix and BOOM!  work out not as awesome.

They have really comfy couches. I just really like to work out.

Not pictured are the 2" diameter pipes I had cut to length to use as dip handles in the power rack. Other than that, I think that's most of it.

If you're serious, I would invest in a decent one. I got that one for like $200 off of craigslist as a package deal with some weight and stuff. It's not very good.

I poke a lot of fun at people who wear Rogue Fitness gear, but they make quality gym equipment and it's usually the best you can get for the money.

Hey guys.  Long time lurker, first time swoller.  I've been chronic cardio'ing the crap out of things for a few weeks now.

My question is this: compression shorts:  are these not the best thing ever invented?

Oh I'm serious. I just don't know if my basement ceiling is high enough. Plus I do mostly body weight stuff these days anyways.

Try wearing your under armor compression shorts under your slim fit dress pants. You'll feel like you can practically rule the world.

Mrs. pamplemousse and I broke down and hired a personal trainer, we were both kind of overwhelmed by all the fitness info out there, figured if we had someone tell us what to do then we wouldn't feel so anxious about the whole thing. Holy crap though, I can't believe I just paid somebody to torture me like that. I've always been more of a jogger, so lots of sweat but not a whole lot of pain. Didn't realize that weight lifting is the complete opposite of that, it was a real eye opener.

Any of you bro's ever had a DEXA scan done?  I'd like to get one done to see true body fat %'s.

I'm going to be very weak once I can lift again.  :frown:
You and me both brother. Hope you are recovering quickly.
What were your symptoms that lead you to believe you had shoulder issues?  Besides pain of course.

Welp, I passed the grinding/popping stage a while back and now am into near constant pain.
What about bench press and dips? Those are by far the worst.

Shoulder damage ppl:

Once repaired and able to work out again, get with a trainer regarding your bench form.  I had some minor shoulder issues a couple years ago and found out that my form was just slightly off to the point that it was putting a lot of strain on my shoulders and less on my chest.  Small grip, elbow, and depth of lift changes made all the difference.

I lowered my bench weight by a bunch and focused intently on my form.  About a month later, I was benching more than before and had no strain or pain.

Just a suggestion.

I have an August 12 appt.  with supposedly the best shoulder guy in the area, so wish me luck.  The Dr. is EMAW undergrad so I feel I am in good hands.

Most likely I will only be using dumbbells for quite awhile.
