How many calories per day are other swolecats taking in per day? Do you even keep track, or just eat as much protein/healthy food as possible?

Mostly this. Lots of chicken, veggies, rice, protein bars, and low calorie lime posicles.  :D

Also, I don't snack on chips, I snack on sunflower seeds.

Is this code for margaritas?

Also  :D

@CNS: It's important to mix it up from time to time. I got obsessed with it in college. Not so much now. I definitely cheat on the weekends or during the week for a qatz game.

I have no problem with this on the weekends most of the time.  Just normal need-to-do stuff makes me be able to do a lot of what I can't on a weekday and also booze up pretty good.

I have no idea. I eat when I'm hungry. When I'm not hungry, I don't eat.

If the real swolecats have time to contribute that would be great. So far it looks like only the thincats have posted.

Does that make you feel shitty?  I thought 2500 was for a regular sized guy.  I would have assumed you'd be like 3K or 3500ish easy just to be even.

Feel great.  Key for me is to eat often but not big.  I try to never let myself get hungry.

Also,  I calculate my calories burned from any given workout and eat them back so that my deficit is what it is supposed to be

Right now I'm carbloading on days after workouts, so I down cookies, pasta, pizza etc. for an hour or two after my workout, then back to no carbs. On those days I probably put down an around 4000-5000 calories. On days I don't work out I don't eat carbs so I'm probably right around 2000 on those days.

Ya. I'm actually trying to keep a log of my calories lately because I've never actually done it before and everyone that is serious always says they do it and blah blah blah. It's rough ridin' tedious. And it's still never exact just close. But I can't do what I did when I was 21 and eat 2,000 more calories than I need and no big deal I'd just blow it all out my ass, now it gathers around my tummy and makes me hate myself.

I've been going pretty hard lately so 3,600 cals on workout days and 2,400 on rest days.

My roommate accidentally grabbed my gym bag when he left for San Antonio yesterday. I'm trying to squat without my Olympic lifting shoes for the first time in over four years and it is not going well.

why would you carb load after a work out.  By the time those carbs (really heavy crap too you say) are broken down (glycogensis/atp) your on your off day and those will further be metabolized from sugars (glucose) to fats.

It's a pretty common eating strategy for lifters who go heavy a lot. Here's a couple articles for you:

Carbs are always important but you'll need to assess how much you want dependent on your goal.

This is a pretty typical breakdown of what I have been eating to get to achieve my weight loss goal. Number of calories on this day was right at 1700.

Steak, lean cuts of pork and chicken, potatoes, Whey Protein, rice, and Broccoli. Maybe some fruit every once in a while. I've always been in my best shape when adhering to this regimen. You have to get creative with sauces and condiments though, or it will get old real fast!

I've actually read about professional power lifters going on all protein shake diets for a month at a time to lose weight. I couldn't imagine abstaining from solid food for a month!

it would be pretty hard to consume that much protein from whole foods without getting weird with it.  how many grams of protein is in one of your shakes?
