I saw some protestors in chicago, probably about 150-200 or so. They were chanting stuff in other languages and "hey hey, ho ho, Egypt's army's got to go!"

If you can stay detached, this is pretty compelling. MB is holed up in the Mosque in Ramses square. Security forces have them surrounded, but can't just go balls to the wall and blast in because Al Jazeera has a live feed running from inside the mosque. Meanwhile, AJ is saying it has sources that a police op is "imminent".

Oh, and the son of the MB's Supreme Guide was also killed. So, martyrs! Yay!

Crowds are cheering as the SWAT team enters the mosque. Women inside are trying to escape from windows. Police having to fire into the air to keep crowds from attacking anyone they escort outside

ONTV, which is pretty much the Fox/MSNBC of Egypt, is now showing a montage of english-language messages on their ticker, like "they killing the kids" and "they burning down mosques"

This is going to be an amazing movie someday. Now there's snipers inside the minaret under siege by the security forces. No one knows who they are. MB officials claim the minaret only has external entrances. And someone is setting off small explosive charges of some kind.

No. It's pretty mystifying. He was apparently arrested under the emergency laws for "backing Morsi" or something like that. It's a complete clusterfuck.

Mostly police and there's lot of different kinds, like the old myth about Eskimo words for snow. The ones in white are traffic/street corner police. The ones in blue are also police, and are involved in mostly traffic but also some crime/security stuff.

The main forces you see are the Central Security Forces (CSF) who wear all black and have the riot gear. They're more like military police.

There's a few others, but I'm not sure what the distinctions are. There's also the plain clothes police, called "National Security." They're like our FBI, but really more like the Stasi. They're the ones that make people disappear.

The ones in camo are the military. They've been largely just standing back and observing and only stepping in during certain moments.
