I saw lots of the IDF wearing sandals. Even some officers. Seemed weird. Also saw the most stunning woman drinking coffee in front of a corner cafe with a Desert rough ridin' Eagle in a holster.

The interim prez compared it to the 90s. He meant it in a positive way, but it's an ominous comparison.

Felix, hope you and your family are doing well. I have nothing exciting to report. The happy couple got married earlier this week and the wedding went off without any problems. They did have to move it up one day because a protest group scheduled a huge rally in the park where they had the reception. My grand-daughter and daughter seemed far more excited about the henna (?) ceremony the day before the wedding. Apparently it is some deal where the families get together and paint their toenails or something. I didn't really pay attention to the explanation. After the wedding, a bunch of bombs went off in Cairo, but everyone from the families left for a resort with a beach. They sent pictures and it looks like a good time.

The only bad news is the new husband hasn't been able to get permission to leave the country for a visit to the USA. Maybe it will be easier now that he is married to a U.S. citizen.

how is the popular majority taking to the new constitution? I haven't seen anything on timeline to move away from .mil control to civilian.

Just announced prez elections today, accepting nominations in mid February. Per the new constitution, parliamentary elections have to be within sox months of the prez elections, so we'll likely see both within the year. Of course, the president will have a bit of a blank check the first few months, too.

i think it's like this in a few countries. an official gets impeached or loses a vote of no confidence and rather than handing the position to the next in line they ask if next wednesday works for everyone.
