Helping people move
« on: March 05, 2012, 09:25:18 PM »
can be humiliating. One time me and this other guy carried this night stand (with drawers, sort of big) and then when we were walking back to the truck from carrying it a girl was carrying the other one by herself.  :frown:

ATTN: PEOPLE W/ CATS,
make sure your apartment does not smell like urine before you have friends move your items.  They will not ever be your friends again.

Horrible feeling: Going down the steps with something really heavy and you are losing your grip but you don't want to put it down because no one else has had to put something down on the steps.

Good feeling: finding 2 or 3 light boxes to stack up and carrying them all at once and someone sees and calls you "hulk" or something.

I hate when they pull the moving truck so close to the garage that the ramp is like 2 and a half below the top of the garage so you have to duck your head everytime you come down the ramp.  :chainsaw:

Had a moving company move my stuff this past fall to my new house (I don't want to do that crap).  One of the mover guys opened up one of the side panels on the semi, and as he was opening the crate lid a bunch of heavy stuff fell on him (while he was standing on the ramp).  I was  :ohno:

He was pretty shaken up and had some blood but worked through it like a champ.

No biggie unless he bloodfarted  then, you might be worried.

Moving is the worst i loath it.  Helping others do it does not bother me cause I don't have to unpack the crap.

How do you get to be the person in the truck that just gets to be handed stuff and then organize it? I never get to be that person.

These suck.  Had one in the apartment in college.  When I moved out...we were like "F It" and cut it in half and tossed it over the deck (lived on 2nd floor) to throw it away.
