Strongly consider that it might actually be all about him and not about you. (Although he put it on you in his text.) I've broken up with girls because of where my life was at, and it really didn't have much of anything to do with who they were. Also, long distance stuff rarely works out...

It's obvs that old balls did what he did because he was in hurry-up-fam-mode due to his old balls and all. Pair that with your 80-hr weeks and the fact that you just grad'ed and started this career so the 80-hr weeks won't be going away anytime soon, and that prob made the decision for him.

Hard truth: 80 hr weeks don't mix well with long term relationships. at that pace, your job is your long term relationship.

I used to do it and it was unsustainable for my family.

Also, chicks that are strong in personality, independent, and confident make the kind of girlfriend that is also a good friend-friend for a guy. Makes for a better base for the long term relationship.

I wouldn't agree with any of the advice that includes changing anything about personality or tendencies, however, you need a guy who understands ambition and that is usually one with ambition, therefore the ones working similar careers with similar demands upon them.
