no doubt. If anything, Lin gave us Billy's bow, which is the kind of thing that makes sports worth living.

I've only seen the highlights on sportscenter and the bow video on youtube.  that is more than enough to tell me that he's earned all of this hype and more.

This.  


Does Lin's race add to the "linsanity?"  Sure.  However, his situation is unique outside of his race, and no other player in NBA history has done what he has done in their first several starts.  New York is 7-0 since Lin took over at point guard, which is far from a "meaningless" statistic.
