So disappointed to find out that an EMAW hero is :opcat:.

Bill is the least racist person who ever bowed.
But obviously still racist.

I don't know how closely you guys watched the footage of the behind view from his game winning 3, but when he made it seemingly every asian in canada behind the basket just went nuts.

I have to admit, I enjoy it. Much better than the Tebow junk. (which is a bad comparison anyway).

It's like Tebow, except he went undrafted (much underdoggier) and is actually good at his sport.

He's in the early stages of being the NBA's Kurt Warner.

Compare their stats. Lin's are good/great for a PG. Tebow's are awful for a QB.

Heard it was Asian heritage night.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I will still WTF the Raptors fans for sucking so much that management was all "eff it, let's make it a Knicks home game and sell some tickets and beer."

Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise.

It's pretty much true. What Lin has done is remarkable, and being in New York helps, but a lot of the attention he is getting is because he isn't black.

Agreed that the race thing is a major factor. But a black guy that went to Harvard, was undrafted, then exploded like this would still be getting a crap ton of attention.

Possibly. But compare him to a guy like Monta Ellis. Who the eff knows who Monta Ellis is? But he's averaged 22+ ppg over the last three seasons. Lin will without a doubt be a much, much bigger star than Monta Ellis if he averages 20 a game over the next three seasons. Because of his race.

Does the Asian thing make it bigger or smaller (<--unintentional Whitlock reference) in the states? Obviously it's better from an international standpoint.

Ellis was Parade Magazine HS player of the year and skipped college to enter the draft. How is that comparable to Lin?

I'm referencing the Mayweather quote. He's been doing what Lin's been doing every night for 5 or 6 years and no one knows anything about him. I acknowledged the circumstances are different, but I'm saying that if Lin sustains this, his stardom will far surpass that of Ellis (and it really already has).

you're both right.  then again, it's a boring discussion.

There's a shitload of Asians in the States and lots of white dudes that are more than happy to see non-black non-Euro's have success.
