Venables sucks.  He's a bad d coordinator.

This is not true.
On second thought, after doing a little research, I agree.

Venables doesn't suck.

you may be right about the deity part, though.

Can we settle on urban legend?   Deity seems strong.

Nope, let's go with deity.

Compared to Chris Cosh, I'm perfectly comfortable calling Venzy deity.

Would he ever take that job?  Seems he would stick it out at OU and take a low level HC job.

This would be less than lateral, he would play against OU, he would be moving 1000 miles from his recruiting base.

Mikey being back in town changes things.

It's kind of a symbolic slap in the face to Venzy because he knows Mike is going to be the real DC.  It's a demotion, and everyone knows it.

So hang for a year, strengthen your recruiting ties, and make a HC move when a good but not great one opens.  Don't take 3 steps back and possibly give up a recruiting pipeline you built.

But if WVU joins, is he really giving up a pipeline?  The guy has been in the area for over 15 years.  He'll still be recruiting here while he's at WVU, presumably.

Not all of it but recruiting a TX kid to Norman is different than recruiting him to Morgantown.

Venzy won't come as long as there is any chance Sean gets the HC nod.

I'd take Venables as our new D-Coordinator.  Would be hard to be worse than Cosh.  I haven't seen anything yet that makes me want him as our head coach, though.

Wherever he goes, it'll be interesting to see how well he does without Bobby Stoops looking over his shoulder the whole time...

Sometimes I'll log in and be like "WTF? I have 3 new messages?" Then I'll see one of these threads.
