Friday morning I was awoken by a kcpd officer knocking on my door who was doing a wellness check on my neighbor. She said that his work had called in that the guy had been sick lately and hadn't shown up for work and they couldn't get ahold of him. His truck wasn't in the driveway either. This dude is very much a work and home hermit kinda guy (but nice). Mid to late 50's, single. Didn't see him come home at all this weekend. Starting to feel like something bad has probably happened  :frown:

So I went to the county website to find this guy's name because some people were cleaning out his house. Turns out his body was found in a lake 2 weeks ago.  :frown:

Somebody from my neighborhood knocked on my door yesterday to earhole me with questions about my solar panels. My eff outta here face must not have been pronounced enough as this person went on for like ten minutes. It's bad enough when I get interrupted while mowing or doing something in my front yard but knocking on my door is too much.

My neighbors have bright white christmas lights that, although smaller in number, rival Clark's.  Luckily our bedroom doesn't face that house but it's a little off-putting to glance out a window at 9pm and have it seem like daylight.

New neighbor moved this weekend with California plates. I'm about to go tell him to not "California my Texas".

I have lived in this house for 9 years and one of my diagonal neighbors introduced himself today as I took the trash can to the street. He's lived in that house since the 80's. I have a giant tree in the front yard (no clue what kind) and he told me he calls them "Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) trees" because the branches will spur off in random locations.

Now the only neighbor I haven't talked to is the people that moved next door 3 years ago.

Whenever I move to a new neighborhood/town, which is rare these days, I’m always excited to get to know my neighbors and hang out and stuff. But what usually happens is I don’t make the first move and then I feel like it’s too late to become buds, so I just wave awkwardly and stuff.

This is especially pronounced in the neighborhood I live in now, where you can go for days without seeing someone aside from exiting or entering the garage. All the other places I’ve lived were more normal neighborhoods w people parking on the street, having big front porches, hanging out outside, etc., so you end up getting more acquainted with people without trying.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Also, never heard of the white rock thing, but have heard of the pineapples and looked for them today for some reason in my neighborhood… didn’t see any.

I agree that only Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) trees have branches.

I usually don’t talk to my neighbors. We wave and stuff but that’s the extent of it usually

I was hanging out at the lady friends place 2 nights ago in the backyard at night and we saw some sort of critter (maybe a raccoon or fox? It was dark but the critter was decent sized and moving fast) run through a neighbors back yard to our left and heard a scream from the neighbor behind us catty corner. She was freaking out and had apparently locked herself out of the house somehow and was in the screened in porch area terrified.

Anyways she was yelling "It was just right there" "I saw it, let me in let me in" "I don't know where it is, is it here?" "I'm so scared" to herself/partner calling her partner etc etc for about 2 minutes but nobody was responding. Finally I just yelled out, "Hey I'm catty corner from you in the backyard, do you want me to come over through the back gate and help you out?"

Then the partner opened the back door for the lady left outside and she said "No, thank you" and I got to hear 2 lesbians having a heated argument about what that animal was and why didn't the other one hear them and come to let them in sooner for about 45 seconds before they closed the door.

It was a very WTF moment, especially since I have no idea who they are.
