Last house I rented in Topeka had the water heater in an unconditioned garage. Seriously. The supply would freeze overnight and thaw during the day any time it was below about 15, so I would have no hot water in the morning and it would really bum me out. Only happened a handful of times times but #struggle

The supply line to my toilet was frozen this morning in spite of my house being at 71 degrees. I had to set up a space heater to get things flowing again.

I would not be good at dealing with this kind of thing.

It is currently 61 degrees outside, not sure what I need to do to keep my pool from freezing.

the pipes in my basement crawl space were frozen this morning and you can't really get back there with a space heater or anything. so i disconnected my dryer's exhaust duct which is pretty long, attached it to a long stick, and stuck it back in the crawl space. after running the dryer on high heat for about 30 minutes it was all cleared up. i've never felt so smart, ever.

Boiling water down the shower pipes was what loosened things up for me. That and closing the vents and blasting this b up for me.

Can you elaborate on the closing vents procedure?

Wacky, my man.... Water in the drain doesn't thaw the supply.

Close up that crawl space. Keep some heat down there if you can. Slow drip your faucets overnight when temps are below 10F.

This is why you shouldn't have become a home owner bud.....buy a condo now.

Same with me...I recognize my weaknesses.

when I was a kid I refused to drink tap water for a period of time after flushing the toilet because I thought poop would come out of the faucet

So when you rub your finger on a grout line in the tile, should the color of the grout come off on your finger?

uhh no.. buy some grout sealer..

and wacky are you freaking kidding me?

I lucked out this week, rental house pipes were froze but I had this happen last year and still had space heaters down there and the renter went down in the crawl space and did it for me  :gocho:

I also had water backing up from I'm guessing around the p-trap by the washing machine big hot mess coming down to the basement. Tried using industrial drain pipe cleaner and that didn't work but the $10 water bladder immediately pushed that stuff through. whew

Rented a tile/grout steam cleaning from Home Depot.  Highly recommend if you need to clean your tile/grout.
