That’s $12.5 million, guaranteed, whether he coaches one game, one year or all five seasons. The only way Weis would be owed less would be if he were fired for cause.

Quote
According to KU athletic director Sheahon Zenger, such a contract is the price you pay for hiring a high-profile coach and is common throughout athletics. If anything, it further condemns the fact that the previous administration offered Gill a similar deal despite being an unproven head coach with a losing record.

Gonna be entertaining

Living in Lawrence is going to be so rough ridin' amazing these next couple of years.  I have a front row seat to this train wreck.

QB: Ron Powlus
RB: Reggie Mitchell
WR/OC: Rob Ianello
TE: Bernie Parmalee
OL: Tim Grunhard

They've completely abandoned Texas recruiting.  I'm ok with this.  I think they will do well in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, etc.

Couple this with the MU move (and NU and CU to some degree) and we could be Texas 3 star U in short time!

ku acquaintances are telling me:
--Weis can bring in any big name he wants, but will only bring in people that have chemistry with the coaching style CW wants.  Read:  They will probably get some no-names.
--When I mentioned that Tim Grunhard seemed to be a no-name, the angry response was that many big-name programs wanted him, but he would only work at ku.
--Weis works really, really hard.  Goes to work at 4:30 in the morning, works till 1am.    Read:  When CW treats ku like his country club membership, ku fans will get really pissed.
--CW currently doing recruiting visits to top QB prospect in the country, as well as top WR prospect nationally.  Read:  CW is building a monster!

I heard he had that Gunnar guy recruit in town.  Not sure.

PS.  I love all those talking points.  The first 2 are clearly bogus.  The others are prob true.

Weis’ base salary is $230,000, though he is also in line for an additional $2.27 million in “professional services rendered,” which includes educational, promotional and public relations duties.

Pretty genius way of not having to pay more salary to another head coach. Professional services rendered sounds like what Jim Tressel does for the Indianapolis Colts.

I wonder what Frank thinks his salary is.

Does not jive with everything he's been saying in interviews.  He prefers college because he doesn't have to work as hard and can spend more time with family...that he left in FL.  :dunno:

Woke up to Tim Grunhard on the radio being overly defensive about why he is qualified for the job.

Fescoe:

He is already doing things the have never been done at KU

He was talking up the Parmalee kid a lot and saying that KU stole him from Northern Illinois  just by signing Weis.  Northern Illinois..  Stole him

Quote
He has already changed the face and shape of KU FB

Kirby:
Quote
Mitchell can get any kid he wants and doesn't even have to be in the recruiting area...only needs to have coach tell him to go get the kid

I honestly can't believe how much they have built up this hire.  They are treating Weis and every decision he makes as if they hired Bob Stoops or Les Miles.  Retards.
