i think it's a decent hire if for no other reason than to bring KU some of the national spotlight. i don't think it's the right hire though. imo KU needed a young guy who could grow into the KU job, not someone who seemingly would try to win at KU and if/when successful, leave for something bigger and better. this isn't a bad hire though.

Weiss isn’t a bad hire. He went 35-27 in 5 seasons. KU’s offense will be better under him, especially considering the current skill positions; he’ll just need to figure out the defense. Plus he’s a name, which will probably get people coming to the games.

It is weird to me that he doesn't want to be an NFL OC. He was very good at that. College success has been rarer for him.

first 2 years at ND he went 9-2 and 10-2 after that when the players he started recruiting came in they went 3-9, 7-6, and 6-6...didnt do much with his players in there

I would say he is in worse condition that Mangino. He already has some serious health issues related to his weight.
