KU athletic director Sheahon Zenger has said he will not publicly discuss candidates, but these coaches are worth a look.

Larry Fedora 

Southern Mississippi coach led Golden Eagles to 10-2 regular season but won’t engage in talks until after Saturday’s Conference USA title game against Houston.

Mark Stoops 

Youngest Stoops brother coached with Zenger at Wyoming and led turnaround of Florida State’s defense to No. 6 in the nation as coordinator.

Sonny Dykes 

Louisiana Tech coach led Bulldogs to WAC championship and has Texas recruiting roots.

Dave Doeren 

Northern Illinois coach is a Bishop Miege grad who was also a KU assistant and defensive coordinator at Wisconsin.

June Jones 

Former NFL coach took Hawaii to a BCS game and SMU, his current team, to its first bowl game since the death penalty in 1987.

would lol if they hired sonny dykes.  june jones is mike leach ultra light.  fedora would be a good hire.  mark stoops is pretty meh but probably safe.  bob would probably send leftovers his way.  doeren, no idea who this guy is.

yeah, let's put some story behind this. Interview went like this:

SSJ: Would you be interested in the KU job?
GB: Well... uh... let me uh... hum... Who... Who have you guys heard to be on a list of possible candidates?
SSJ & NB: list names mentioned above in this thread.
GB: explains why each of those would be good, then proceeds to say "KU would be a good fit for him at this time in his life."

Administrators who have worked with Leavitt, such as Illinois State athletic director Sheahon Zenger, who was part of Leavitt's first staff in 1996, said their counterparts will be aware of the circumstances that led to his firing but will evaluate his career as a whole.

"It's about fit; where his body of work lines up with the needs of a particular institution; where his personality aligns itself with the administration and fan base."
