Luke Fickell would be a pretty good pickup for the Jayhawks. :dunno:

He is staying on staff at OSU.

Wouldn't he rather be a head coach, though?

Hmm, stay on staff with Urban Meyer and win a few BCS titles or go to Lawrence and get destroyed and fired in 2 years.  Tough call there.

They should pursue any and all viable candidates. It's not like their job is going to look any worse to the handful of candidates who are actually sure to take the job if they get told no a few times.

It would be the Matt Cassel of coaching hires.

I think Chris Cosh would be a great hire for them.

If KU starts offering more "Gill Deals" they are going to have start dipping into that big ole endowment they have to pay them off.

If Washington State steals Mike Leach from KU, then Zenger should seriously consider dropping the football program.

welp

He can be as crazy as he wants there, and they will never let him go.

That's a coaching search I have a good deal of interest in.  That could/should be one of the best jobs out there, but their hires are always underwhelming.

That is a good point.  Don't think any school in a conference with a contract with ESPN or ABC would be able to hire Leach; unless he dropped his lawsuit with them due to conflict of interest.  This may be why no school would hire him.  I wonder if other schools that he interviewed at requested him to drop his lawsuit as a condition to employment.  The Pirate problably told them "not only no, but hell no". :garr:
Hot time in Kat town tonight.

If the people who rebuilt Lawrence after Quantrill had known how  :opcat: Lawrentucky would become, do you think they'd even bother getting out of their ashy beds?
