I'm going to throw a name out there for KU....James Franklin.

Quote
Franklin's taken a team that had won just four games the previous two seasons and they're going bowling. Meanwhile, the place he was supposed to coach -- Maryland -- just blew a 27-point second half lead to lose to N.C. State and finish the season 2-10

James Franklin is about as realistic as Jon Gruden

Really need to cut little brother some slack here.  After all, they just lost the biggest rivalry game in the history of rivalry games, they're without a football coach, their beloved b-ballers are barely .500, they haven't beaten K-State in ANYTHING in like 2 years, and their athletic dept. is a bazillion dollars in debt.  I hope that Purple-blooded AD they hired can get them back on track.

Reality, as we have observed already, has very little to do with this process.

i don't think ku is going to get anyone good.  zulu just put the final nail in the football coffin at ku.  no way anyone worth a damn would sign up for a leash that's 2 yrs short.  just terrible how they run coaches out of lawrentucky.

I am a little jealous. Coaching searches can be fun, when you aren't embarrassing yourself in the process.

I'm going to throw a name out there for KU....James Franklin.

"Vandy Vice Chancellor of Athletics David Williams confirmed to the Nashville Tennessean Sunday that talks are already underway that would both extend Franklin’s current deal for an unnamed number of years as well as give the first-year coach an undetermined bump in pay.  It’s also believed Franklin will be seeking improved football facilities as well as raises for his assistants in the revamped deal."

ku at best will hire a mid major coach like they just did.

No big name coach is going to come to be second fiddle to ku basketball.

Any coach they can get will demand the same golden parachute that Gill got unless they are an up and coming assistant coach like a Prince type hire wanting to make a name for himself.

ku fans should be happy with 6,7,8 win season and stop trying to be like Big brother. You're a basketball school after all.

ku will overpay for any coach they get, like they did for Gill.

Gill will get a mid-major gig this year and be successful.

Random thoughts for this morning.
RIP Fatty

IMO KU's best bet is to throw everything they have at Sumlin. They might have a chance with him and he's much more likely than a Leach or Leavitt, even with SZ's connections to those two.

that would be a good hire for them as long as they don't pay him too much, but they will. Although I think the boosters are pressuring Zigs to hire a sexy name

Seems like we should get some sources to post here and make sure the speculation on Sumlin to ku goes national and causes enough of a distraction that Houston falters this week opening up another BCS slot for your Big 12 Champion KSU Cats.  FTB.

Sumlin has been a dream of mine since we fired Mangino.  Unfortunately, he's not interested in the KU job.

A destination job?  No.  A pretty good job where you can make a lot of money for going 7-5 and beating K-State?  Yes.

I'm sure there are plenty of high school coaches wanting to take the next step in their football career. Although, prolly should expect a high school coordinator instead. No need overreaching again.
