Can I get a Beems free Gill fired thread?

It is interesting to observe how many people still fall for his stuff.

My opinion means little on this site, but we can't have one conversation regarding KU without Beems barfing all over it.  It just gets old.

He meltsdown pretty quick and logs out to lurk.  But I agree that it can get annoying when he just copies us/phog.

Ron Prince... went bowling, owned Texas, recruited a bunch of NFL prospects... but he couldn't beat KU.

K-State . . . forcing ku to care about the only sport that matters . . . again.

yeah. if Ku actually steps up and hires a mike leach type, then it's pretty obvious that they finally realized that nobody cares about their basketball program but them.

...or MU...or NU...or TT...or OU... Ron was a sh*tty coach.  Gill probably was.  That's the similarity.  Why can't you just enjoy Mike?  This is why you don't deserve him.  You've got Mike Leach flying in on a citation and all you can do is look to see is Dax has his c*ck out or not.

I still think KU needs to follow the SLTH model.  Hire a good mid-major guy (like Fedora or Doren), give him a crap load of time and no pressure, and see what happens.

Leach isn't the answer in Lawrence.  He won't do very well in the KC fishbowl, he'll bump heads with BGL, and most importantly, he'll bump heads with Bill Self.

KU fans are too delicate to deal with a guy like Leach.  He's genuinely weird.  He won't mesh well with their donors, alumni, and everyone of importance that isn't a t-shirt fan.

Some pretty good coaches on the Ohio State staff probably looking for work soon.   I thought their interim guy did a pretty good job considering the situation.

KC isn't even a fishbowl and it would be too odd for him.

Most importantly, yes the Alums and President would be a horrible fit.

I'll go ahead and disagree with this.  Like, 100% disagree.  He got along with Bob Knight, didn't he?  KU fans are no f'ing different than any other fans.  They want to win and will do anything they can to do so.  This isn't basketball where they need to have the appearance of cleaness.  They hired a two ton sumo wrestler, they'll hire a pirate.  If the pirate wants to come.

KU needs to hire someone that's proven he can win in a non-ideal location where football isn't the primary sport.

Leach ran a crazy offense and pulled in some of the best kids in Texas that got passed over by UT and A&M.  At KU, he'll get the best kids in Texas that got passed over by UT, OU, OSU, TCU, a resurgent Baylor, etc.

I think the thing people need to remember is that Leach is a nut job, and KU is as image conscious as they get.  You think he'll sit in a meeting and listen to BGL tear him a new one for talking about "fat, little girlfriends"?  No, he won't.  He'll be gloriously uncooperative, and he'll come out for the next practice dressed like a Muppet to prove whatever point is swimming around in his head.

When the schools with a chance, no matter how half-assed, pick their coaches, KU will take the leavings.

Bill Self and Bob Knight are like apples and oranges.  Bill Self runs KU like Capone ran Chicago.  If there is even a hint that the relationship won't work, it won't happen.

KU is in win at all costs mode.  Let's no kid ourselves here.

Of their two biggest rivals, one just abandoned them for the SEC and the other is on the verge of a conference title and BCS bowl appearance.

They realize football is the only thing that will keep them in the conversation the next time realignment rolls around.  This fire/hire is about desperation for survival as it is anything else.
