Did anybody here attend private schools, or have kids that attend private schools? Is it worth it?

I never attended a public school, private from K-12, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I'm glad my parents sent me though

it depends on where you live and what's available. if you live in a place that has crap for public schools but good private school options, then private makes sense. if you live in a place that has really good public schools and the private ones aren't any better, then it doesn't make sense. this doesn't seem that hard. is this a trick question?

students from the best public schools test as well as students from private schools. if i sent my kid to private school, i'd expect that they'd be able to attend an ivy league university. yet, when you look at placement records of even academically oriented private schools, they're very meh. almost all the kids could've easily gotten into the colleges they attended had they gone to public school. but i do think kids learn really good manners at private school.

Depends on the size of the city. If your kid is mediocre to dumb private school is a better option as you can PI the dean into gettng your kid in to college. Average to High end will do fine where ever.

also, i have some non townie friends that talk about how they're going to put their little kids into some kind of private school in manhattan or something and i just don't have the balls to tell them that they're idiots and that the public ones are better and that they're kids are going to be outcasts and made fun of. i mean, seven dolors freaks. enough said.

public schools in my area are alright, testing scores pretty much on average with the rest of the state. private schools testing scores are better. but there's other things to consider than just testing scores, which is why i was asking. would not even be asking if i was living in manhattan, but i'm in kc. thanks for responses.

Eh, I'm not arrogant enough to think I can provide a better education than someone with a related degree and experience. And I think the social experience is important.

Yes. And all of the Aquinas-Pikes freshman that can't handle their liquor and come off as huge a-holes at K-state. Well, I mean I'm sure they all go on to father 4-6 children and be successful money managers or something, but pretty much insufferable for a good bit of time.

Well, if you're sending your kids to EMAW U like any reasonable EMAW would then it doesn't really matter unless the public schools where you live are really crappy.

i live in kcmo. a district without accreditation. and not that accreditation matters a whole lot but it speaks to how much of a disaster the district is. i wouldn't send any kid into those schools.

i am going to attempt to incorporate some kind of townie fact/knowledge into every combo-fanning post i have for the next week. i know a lot about mhk so it should be about as simple as going yard on pluto field.

the last time i heard someone say "going yard" was on the laurie's high school city league baseball team that was full of people rick daris knew. we won the championship at cico (of course) on the blue field (i think). i ripped a single and scored a run. final score was 3-1. we only lost one game and, boy, was coach laurie pissed. very competitve guy.
