sodium, in moderation, is good.  similar to greed.
the problem is trying to maintain a low sodium diet.  because of greed.  the remaining 6 slices of that large pizza demand to be eaten.

So if you eat Chipotle, do you just go on a two week salt fast afterwards, or something?

Had a meeting today about a recent American Journal of Health study about sodium. They're saying now that it's only good to reduce salt if you already have a history of high blood pressure. If your blood pressure is fine, salt (reasonably consumed) has no ill effects. In fact, they say that people who have normal blood pressure and eat a reduced sodium diet, have higher mortality rates.

Campbells Corporation announced they are adding salt back into their healthy option line of soups, also.

your comment is pretty sarcastic.  i'm sure you learned a lot in biology last semester but this is one of those threads where you should  just take the advice given and let the big kids talk.

ok food scientist/nutritionist, well i figure that when i need advice on dietary limits, i will listen to the mayo clinic.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/war-on-salt/MY01674

http://www.mayoclinic.org/news2009-mchi/5494.html

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sodium/NU00284

i don't advocate cutting salt out of your diet completely, as i recognize it is an essential need of our bodies.  what most people don't realize is how much sodium they actually consume and its potential negative effects on their body.
