If we had Ell Roberson this year we would be a virtual lock to win the Big XII and probably one of 3 teams that had a legit shot at the national championship game.  Our WR core is sick.  Like really really really rough ridin' good.  Our problem is that we can't effectively get them the ball on a consistent basis.  How many times have you seen Klein overthrow a receiver that was wide open downfield?

translation:  i was in school when Ell was our qb.

false.  I did watch him play tho...so there's that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pumped about where we are right now, it's just kind of sad to think how we're wasting the best wide receiving core we've had in a really long time.  :frown:

you really aren't giving CK the credit he is due.  he's not a great passer, but he's absolutely serviceable as a thrower and he's a fantastic runner.  oh, and he's likely the best pure field general we've had in quite some time....smart, effective, winner.

Roberson would have made a lot more mistakes by now then Klein has.  More big plays too, but I don't know if we would be undefeated with Ell.

Seems like Ell would have had one or two meltdowns by now.

Yeah, Ell did throw a crap ton of INTs.  Seems like he fumbled quite a bit too.  CK has been pretty damn great about taking care of the ball.  Yeah, we don't have the big play ability like we did but we also haven't shot ourselves in the foot much.  Still wish our WRs would be a little better after the catch on some of the shorter passes.

QB.  Ell could run as well as CK but was a much bigger threat to throw the deep ball.  Also, the difference between Sproles and Hubert is pretty huge.  Hubert doesn't take that little screen pass to the house like Darren did in the CCG.

Disagree on Ell.  I prefer CK, but could see the argument that it's almost a wash.  Haven't seen enough deep balls from CK to make a judgment.

WR/TE was the one are I think 2003 may be better, but I like this group we have now.  Even without the Smiths.

Isn't this pretty much all you need to know?

Agreed. Only 4 teams control their own destiny to the NC. LSU, Alabama, Okie State, and us. If we win Saturday, then we're playing for a spot in it on the 5th.

so... with Stanford and Clemson being undefeated and ahead of us in the rankings, don't we need them to lose even if we win out? I just see it being very difficult to jump over either of them if they go undefeated as well..

With us playing OU and OSU, not to mention A&M and Texas yet, Stanford and Clemson don't play anyone close to as good as those

We win, we're in.

I think going to down to Stillwater and winning would go a long ways to leapfrogging a couple teams in the polls

Yeah...that's on CK too.  They're usually either diving for the ball or slowing down to catch it behind them...or he leads them right out of bounds.

I do agree that Ell would've probably made more mistakes that probably would've negated the bigger plays, I just hate seeing the big fast physical recievers we have not utilized very well.

Seriously, it sounds like I'm CK bashing here but I'm not.  I love the dude and most of what you have said is right.  He's a helluva field general and great runner and I'm glad he's our QB.  It's just painful to watch him miss wide open receivers.

That's what I thought, but then I saw us get run up and down the field at Tech.  And when we came out behind in the second half Klein started slinging the ball and went 7-8 in the third quarter for 100 yards.  We scored 3TDs, took the lead, and didn't throw another pass in the 4th quarter.

I'm good with that.

Has an undefeated Big 12 ever not made the MNCG?  Also, Clemson will not go undefeated and I don't think Stanford plays a tough enough schedule to fend us off if we were to rattle off wins vs OU, OSU, UT, and aTm.

What have you seen out of them that leads you to believe this?  They've been given zero chance to showcase their skills.
