Guys, I'm totally lost on this "bear claw" hand gesture you speak of. I haven't been to a home game in a while, but I don't remember ever seeing it (sure as hell didn't do it when I was there). Is there a Youtube vid of it? I have to see this...

Guys, I think it's pretty clear how this thing started. This picture tells it all:

thing the students are doing and how cool it is. They decide to come up with something similar that they can flash up to other band members as an insidery "band member" thing. Then, one day, a black student notices the band flashing their

(only the claw gesture) sign and thinks, "man, that's almost gangsta; kind of like LA crap" and starts doing after touchdowns, QB sacks, etc. Then the white kids see him do it and say "that's kinda thug, I want to be cool like the black guy: ('cause one of my good friends is black). And there you have it. The Bear Claw is born.
