Mets or Yankees? Nicks or Nets? Islanders or Rangers? Jets or Giants?

I think you know the answer to all of those questions

mets, nets, isles, jets? no mix and match?

That was my initial thought but I'll actually probably be a Knicks guy who goes to Nets games and isn't invested

The knicks are fun right now and there is a lot of energy around that and it'll be fun AF to be a fan in the city I bet. Also I bet they make a run at dame.

Probably Bay Ridge because of schools and work. It's a ways out there but it's pleasant and different enough from where we are now

Probably Bay Ridge.

i see you more as a wiley voter, but you'll probably fit in fine with the garcia tribe too.  looks like you get stuck with staten island for congress though (pending redistricting).

The weather/winters in NYC aren't that bad. If anything, at least in "the city," the height of the summer is worse.

I don't know if I believe you!

You're next to the ocean. That helps to regulate the winter weather. It's easy to put on a nice coat and scarf and make your way around in the winter. Really hot days in the summer are worse. No AC in the subway stations (plus lots of other places). And the smells. The smell of garbage baking in the sun, waiting to be picked up. The smell of dog piss reducing on the sidewalks, because there is no grass. You have to walk everywhere. Lots of places just aren't equipped to deal with it.

Of course, I could just be talking out of my ass.

*edit: I also just generally prefer relatively colder weather versus 90+ degree heat.

Rusty, a New Yorker!?!  :horrorsurprise:

The winters aren't terribly cold, but it's wet as hell. The worst part about the NE Seaboard is that the sun disappears in mid to late October and you won't see it again until the spring. Growing up in Western Kansas going literally weeks without sunlight was hard for me. It's always cloudy in the winter and the sunset is crazy early. I thought seasonal effective disorder was bullshit until I moved to Boston. I loved Boston, I hated the crap out of November-February.

I gotta imagine where I lived in Michigan is worse for the cold months (but not nearly as hot as NYC). Michigan would be cloudy from November to May and spring was just second winter.

Yeah eastern part of any timezone is no joke with the SAD.  Living in Chicago with sunsets at 4:30 was brutal.  Used to take vitamin D when I lived up there, which i'm not sure actually helped at all but at least made me feel like i was doing something.

ngl pretty jelly you're in NYC now. Part of me still wishes I took the transfer job to move there for the delat terminal update at la guardia, but also part of me is glad I didn't. I could probably hack it in the city for 2-3 years and that's about it. But it would be a great 2-3 years.

You don't know if you can hack it until you try! I was lucky to have a company that pays an appropriate NYC wage and paid for all the moving expenses.

BTW I flew into LaGuardia on United a couple times recently and was blown away at that terminal compared to like seven or eight years ago. Felt like a real life modern airport instead of a dank crowded cave. Still took like an hour to get a cab, but it was very clean and spacious!
