Thanks!! I have  DNA kit on him and going to see what exactly he is. The folks we are adopting from thought the mother was a boxer mix but they are also thinking Mastiff, Great Dane, maybe Shar Pei. So... hopefully the DNA kit will give us some insight. He's a hoss.  Going to be tall. Super laid back and sweet though so far.

Norman's name may become Otis.  We are going to let him decide using the ol' bowl with a name on it trick and see which one he eats out of.  We are really torn between Norman and Otis.

Norman = On Golden Pond
Otis = Andy Griffith Show

Really is too tough to call.

We adopted this Border collie mix named Coby last week, he's a very good dog with a few bad habits.  His previous owners had trained him to bark when he needs to go outside, and he has escalated to barking anytime he wants anything.

don't reinforce the behavior. instead, reinforce the times he does not bark. gonna probably take a while, but start building on those quiet times. clickers can also be good tools to help. sounds like he is a pretty good dude, just tryin to do what's right in this crazy mixed up world.

i got a dog from the pound once that never ever barked.  like not one single time and i had her for like 8 years.  my dad said it was cause some assholes did something to her when she was a puppy and she had scars/burn marks on the insides of her ears.

so what i'm saying is you could try doing whatever they did

So lady made her first confirmed kill yesterday.

The vicitim was a squirrel who had been terrorizing my garden for the last month so I wasn't too sad.

Question tho, Will lady develop a taste for blood now that she has killed? Will she need to kill once a month now just to be normal? Once a week?

she's always had a taste for blood, she's a dog.  she's only now figured out what she can do about it.

she's malleable.  if you want her to kill rodents, you can encourage it, if you don't, you can deter it.  it doesn't take much.
