OMG

guys, she's chews A LOT. like way more than I've ever seen a dog chew...she's also super whine-y, like if you leave the room for more than 2 seconds she starts whining super loud. Any suggestos?

One perk is she already seems to have the potty train thing down pretty good, peed inside the first day she way here, now she seems to know to hit up the kitchen door to be let out.

1.  normal, pups gonna pup, 2.  give her something delicious right before you leave the room.  pop back in before she starts whining with something delicious again.  don't give her the 2nd food if she whines before you get back.  don't have to do this a lot, just every once in a while.  and always ignore the whining.

good job on the housetraining.  how old is she?

She's just over 8 weeks. I expected chewing but, man you should see my hands.

Good idea on the food thing.

Yeah Ollie did that too. I just always shoved something else into his mouth when he went after my hands. Rawhides, toys, ropes etc.

Yeah, she seems to be pretty smart. Just had our first vet appt, small ear infection and some minor issues with digestion but other than that a clean bill of health.

I've never had a puppy this young before (last one was 13 weeks when I got him) so the whining and excessive biting is new for me. It's good to  hear that it's normal though. We're starting to crate train this week, so we'll see how that goes.

week 2 update:

Training has been going v well! she's almost totally crate trained now and spends all over her sleeping time in there, and usually goes in there to chew on toys etc...

took a small step back in potty training (I don't think mrs kcfd is as vigilant at taking her out when I'm at work) but the dog seems to be back on the wagon now.

down to waking up only once a night, which is a huge upgrade from the 5-6 times we were woken up the first week. exhausting.

she also gained almost 4 pounds last week! holy crap!
