for some reason i was thinking you were taller.  i want a road bike but have had issues finding a frame that fits my frame <====LOL JOKE!

how tall are you?  I'm assuming you must be tall if you are having difficulty finding a frame.

I would look at the endurance frames the manufacturers offer.  The one I just got is such a frame and has a little more relaxed geometry and also a slightly longer wheelbase.  This might help accomodate your height better.  My old frame is awesome but it is an agressive racing style frame and keeps me bunched up.

Nice bike AST!  (Little disappointed to lose my Orbea brother though)

I would really like to invest in the SRAM eTap, but I'm sure I won't be doing that for a while.

I am here to report a Christmas bicycle miracle.  As you might remember, I got a hybrid bike last June and I rode the eff out of it.  I decided to go the mountain bike route, and am purchasing a gently used Santa Cruz Tallboy CC 29er, with all XTR components, for about 1/3 of retail.  I am beyond excited.  I had been holding out for a very high end bike, used.  This fits the bill.  Man oh man.   :Woohoo:

looks sharp although I will admit I have no idea what I m looking at.  I have never entertained the idea of getting a mountain bike for more than a second as I am certain it would end in my death.  good luck and happy trails.

i will be keeping my Orbea in the fleet.  Want to get a new wheelset for it and possibly stumble across a killer deal on a new gruppo.  Love how it handles and attacking the hills on it plus K plan on taking it with me on any weekend rides I do.  Keep it in the van as a spare if needed.

Also, have a couple of friends on the fence about road cycling.  Might let one borrow it to try and push them over the edge.

It was pricey.  I bought it used, and still set me back $2K.  It was a $5K+ retail bike in 2012, all carbon with high end components and crap like that.   WAY more bike than I need or deserve.   I wouldn't have spent that much, but it was Xmas for myself and I won a bunch on the Royals World Series and so I decided to go bigger than what I needed.

You can't ride a Peewee Herman seat for long rides. You'll maim the boys.

Yeah good seats function like leaf springs and there are different sizes for fits.  Soreness > numbness

I went out for about an hour yesterday. Man, I could really tell how strong I had gotten by last September and what I had lost by not riding for the past 4 months.  I had been running like crazy, just not riding.  I didn't really appreciate how different those muscles were.

It's great to be able to keep the cardio going with running through the winter but you really need a bike trainer to keep those quads firing.

I had a tick in a rotation while pedaling and I looked at my pedals and they looked shot. Got new pedals. Used a coworkers pedal wrench to remove the old ones, promptly rounded the nut on the LH to make it unusable. Soaked it in penetrating oil for a while, it still wouldn't budge. Cut off the petal, drilled out a hole, tried a screw extractor (because it had a nice square edge and I thought it would work better). I was wrong. Broke off the screw extractor in the hole left in the old pedal. Today I went to a bike shop by my work to see if they had new crank arms. The guy was a total dick and was like, "why on earth would we stock that, there's like a thousand combinations of crank arms". Called my local bike shop to see if they had any and they're like, "oh yeah we've got all kinds, just bring it in." :curse:
