What is sad is the media reporting on this issue left all of you dumbasses thinking John Wayne Gacy was born in Waterloo, which he was not. He was born in Chicago, and lived there until he was 20 years old. He then moved to Las Vegas for 3 months but then returned to Chicago until the age of 22. His employer then transferred him to Springfield, Illinois. Only then at the age of 23 did he move to Waterloo, Iowa, and he spent 3 years there from 1965 to 1968. The murders took place later after he had moved back to Chicago. So for all of the reporting to claim that Gacy was "from" Waterloo when he had only spent three years there in his twenties is intentionally misleading in my opinion.
But that is not even the whole story.......
Now comes word that… yes indeed… Clyde Morrison and his blushing bride Molly got married in…. Waterloo, Iowa. And settled there.
Later moving to Winterset, Iowa. Where they had their bouncing baby boy Marion.
Who grew up to become -- yes indeed -- John Wayne.
Not John Wayne Gacy.
John Wayne.
Is it entirely possible Bachmann made a small mistake -- the newlywed parents lived there and she thought Wayne was born there? Sure. But were his parents from Waterloo? Yes, 100% fact.
By the way, Barack Obama talked today about his 13 year-old daughter.
Problem? She's twelve.
Not to worry. Obama's a genius even if he gets his own daughter's age wrong. Bachmann is an idiot if she mistakes Wayne's parent's residence for Wayne's birthplace in the sentence "John Wayne was from Waterloo."
Do you know how many people say Calvin Coolidge was from Northampton, Massachusetts?
Not true.
He was from Plymouth, Vermont. He moved to Northampton after college.
Are people who say these things idiots? No. But I bet most of them know the age of their kids.
And the Bachmann-was-thinking-of-John Wayne Gacy-idea?
Made up out of whole cloth by ignorant people with malice aforethought. And stupidly bought by some who should know better.
This country has serious problems. And this is what passes for debate? Disgraceful.
