at k-state there were guys in the AD who would check in on athletes and their teachers to ensure the athlete's compliance with the attendance rules that the coach had.  they would pop into classes from time to time and check to see that the guys were in the room.

i'm guessing this didn't happen in Sorghum 450 and Macro-Tractorology 302 though, so a lot of you seeds might not be aware of this.

This is fact. They actually check fairly often, but as a lot of them are basketball managers etc. I don't think much punishment really gets handed out.  :emawkid:

Also, at the University of Kansas (an official AAU member international research institution), athletes are required to attend class.  As a KU alum who had multiple classes with athletes, I can tell you that there are academic supervisors who stand outside of the classroom every day and take attendance specifically for each athlete in that class.  If someone misses class, it's an automatic in-house punishment or suspension.  I had Darrell Stuckey, Kerry Meier, and several others in my Finance 305 class at Summerfield, and those guys were always in class.  Not sure how they do it at Little Ag School on the Prairie, but KU actually has integrity when it comes to things like that.

You're a rough ridin' idiot.  My sister (former KU athlete) took notes and quizzes and exams for KU basketball players (Darnell Jackson, Chalmers, and one other).  You know that guy in the wheelchair that's responsible for keeping them eligible?  His name is "Scooter."  And through no fault of his own (I personally believe him to be a genuinely nice and moral person), he's forced to cheat on behalf of KU basketball.  He goes through a LOT to keep them eligible.  Everything from making sure the smart non-men's-basketball athletes are on board to help him cheat, to personally driving to bball player's residences and laying on the horn to get them out of bed to go to class.

Furthermore, my sister got in trouble once for showing up to a chowder puff class.  Her coach told her not to go the first day, and she thought "well that can't be right," so she went, and then she got in trouble for going.  The idea being that now everyone in the class knew an athlete was in the class and might get suspicious if she was always gone.  The prof was in the AD's pocket just to write in A's.

Listen, you emo hayseed clown.  I never once implied that athletes don't cheat.  All I pointed out was that KU athletes go to class.  Now go listen to some more of your shitty emo music and leave the BBS'ing up to men who don't have a thing for skin-tight jeans.

You implied KU athletes go to class all the time, which is not the case.  So suck this [/points to outline of penis pressed against thigh from overly tight jeans] while I fix my makeup.

No, I gave first-hand experience of what I encountered during my time at KU.  You went into all out butthurt hayseed mode and got off topic.  Such is life.

So you saw an athlete in class a bunch of times. This means KU's athletes attend class 100% of the time? I find that hard to believe.

Did Selby have to attend Ass-to-Mouth 101 100% of the time since he's only curious?

I've got an accounting class with Robert Rose who makes it more than I do. He takes good notes too. Also stares at the ass of our very attractive teacher non stop with his friends, often high fiving and nodding.

Last year had a class with Payton Kirk, which was funny because we were in the same group and I never knew he was a football player (only knew him as payton). He never wore typical athlete attire, also is the nicest softest most polite dude in the world. Didn't know till he said he was missing a presentation cuz he had a game (nebraska). Also there's no way he's 6'5" 265 or w/e they list him at.

Freshman year I had english comp with bill walker but he rarely showed up. When he did it was always with a girl or two that weren't in the class.

not class, but Michael Bishop almost ran a friend of mine over, and was so upset over it he was fighting back tears while apologizing.

Extraordinarily interesting.

Sounds like a Disney movie where the big quiet kid (never went out for football) who sits in the back of the room roughs up said players in the hall after class and demands they respect Ms. Larson (while the varsity coach played by a slimmed Matt LeBlanc can't help but notice the kids obvious strength, later convinces him to tryout for the team).

Keith Langford somehow bypassed this intense academic security. Of course, if I had the choice between that and making a coed blow me while I watched my own highlight reel, I would have had pretty spotty attendance, too.

I had P Chem with Darrell Arthur.  His attendance was just pretty ok.  Not great.
