The1BigWillie and I will be slaughtering some fish tonight at mize lake in olathe.

We plan to answer the age old question....Which is the best catfish bait, chicken liver (packaged in gauze) or pieces of fresh cut bluegill?

I will be working with the fresh cut bluegill while The1BigWillie is confident his gauze wrapped chicken livers will win the day.

hot dogs are also very good bait. i know i know but seriously they are

Hot dogs are great bait when you are in a pinch, no shame in using them all the time either.

I am hoping to fish La Cygne this weekend, KDWP report says recent samplings have the lake as one of the best largemouth spots in the state right now. Has anyone been lately?

Hey @benji! I'm heading to Eskridge, KS this weekend. Both my grandparents have land out there and there's some great spots for cat fishing. There's a dried up creek that we go to and we have pulled 10-15 pounders from there. What should I use for bait? What's biting right now? Should I go worms? Liver? Hot dogs? Ms. Wacky? TIA.

I use steak. Doesn't fall of the hook like livers and such.

Those big cats taste like caca tho.     Get drunk first and at least they'll taste better than sage grouse.

Soak fillets in brine (saltwater) overnight, it will get rid of the mud taste.  I usually find a fine layer of silt at the bottom of the container when I do that.

Well guys, it's not all the way dried up.  This is the same creek where I shot that turkey in his right wing and he drowned in the creek cause he couldn't fly. My first and only kill.

I have a feeling SD hasnt been bullhead fishing in like 13 years. Maybe give it a little more effort and you will catch more bullhead and less turtles?
