I want to make fun of Wichita for this, as I laid into the Tulsa Drillers leadership for being a happy little brother to OKC in a AAA/AA relationship with the Dodgers and not being proactive with a great new stadium when a AAA team was available. However, given this is being driven by regionalization of the minors & Wichita securing the Twins as their AA affiliate, I have a feeling any gloating might bite me in the ass in the next couple weeks.

I do have some hope as this all seems master planned, but all the regional teams except the Rockies have Texas League affiliates already & the Rockies dropped the Drillers even after Tulsa modeled the new stadium facilities to match Coors field.

AA is more fun than AAA anyway, IMO. Most good prospects don’t spend much time at AAA

Other than bragging rights, no it doesn't matter, you're right 90% of the attendees don't care if it's AA or AAA. Other than getting the rare superstar rehab assignment AAA teams don't really have a decided advantage. Most AA stadiums are smaller but that doesn't even matter as much in Wichita, I'm guessing they wouldn't have built a smaller stadium if they knew they were getting an AA team, because of the ABC Tournament.

The best minor league park, and the best minor league game atmosphere I've ever been to is an AA park. The beautiful Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine.

I get Spangles selling bear & margs, but a couple days ago I saw on their sign a special for Red Bull & vodka. Have a full bar & mixing drinks seems nuts at fast food place.

there are a few taco bells out here that sell booze (taco bell cantinas). the most legendary one is in Pacifica
