There would be no threat of cap & trade and we would be drilling to increase the supply. Just look at the difference in price when the Saudis threaten to increase production by just 2% a couple of weeks ago. We can do that on our own. Obama even tried to fool OPEC by saying he is opening more oil leases, but everybody knows they will never get actual approval (when Bush said it in 2008, OPEC believed him). Saying we can't affect the price of oil with a real US production increase is just a liberal talking point.
