I hadn't really followed the time line that closely, going back over the evidence and timeline today made me realize how much of a freak show this thing really became. The prosecution got clowned worse than ben in a self promoting recruiting thread.

Yeah, I think those lawyers probably would have just not been paid if Casey were found guilty. Her parents wouldn't pay them, that's for sure.
