They sell stuff in those cities I'm pretty sure...that's what I always tell myself when I freak out about packing.

Looking for suggestions or recommendations for a family trip to the gulf coast of Florida.   Places to stay? Keys/Beaches to visit?  Flying out of MCI, projected length of stay 4-5 nights, sometime in mid-August (hurricane season; we like to live on the edge). Likely flying into Tampa (or another nearby airport), as I have some relatives in Clearwater.

Best bet for family entertainment is the beach. Stay on the beach. You can go out whenever you want, like at sunset, with no hassle.  Clearwater Beach is the major destination, but I prefer smaller, less high-risey, more low key places like Treasure Island and St. Pete Beach.  There's an amazing private Dali museum in St. Pete.  Tarpon Springs is a little Greek sponge fishing village with little shops and Greek food.    You could go to Busch Gardens if you want a typical theme park experience.  If you're a little more adventurous and want to experience some vintage Florida family fun in the sun, check this place out:  http://www.weekiwachee.com/.

Sanibel and Captiva are awesome but the one road/one grocery store can be a major pain in the ass if you are traveling with little kids.

We rent houses on Marco Island for our multi family w/little kids (four kids under 7).  There is virtually no nightlife unless you drive to Naples but you can get a lot of house for your money, it is well developed so there are no 45 minute round trips to the grocery store just to get milk and the beaches are super nice.  This is one we have rented a couple times http://www.vrbo.com/98498

Perhaps the most fascinating thing about the map is that there's no "base layer" tracing the outlines of countries or continents. Instead, the flight routes themselves sketch the edges of the world's major land masses, because so many people live in and travel between coastal cities.

I want this blown up on my wall

i can see continents very easily.  maybe my eyes are more keen to base layers than other peoples.  also, maybe the author is a complete dumbass.

He's saying that it's just a black board with the flight paths illuminated.  The flights themselves make up the shapes of the land masses.
