I'll bet the Mexican food in Spain is the best.  It's like getting milk straight from the cow.

Charleston, SC

pro tips please

Sorry man, I spent a lot of time trying to find this hotel we stayed at there back in like 2008.  It was an awesome French styled place and they had free wine/cheese parties every evening.  Plenty of young couples and even some honeymooners.  Also went to Fort Moultrie which was pretty cool, but not overly impressive and you can do that in about 30 minutes.

Yes I'm pretty damn sure this is it! http://www.fqicharleston.com/

Other than that didn't do much fun stuff (work trip).

Ride a horse carriage through the city and look at all the old houses. I did that with my mom last year and it was pretty fun.

Nothing on Germany?  Munich,  Berlin, etc?
Munich is great. Hofbrauhaus is cool for the sheer scale and outdoor biergarden but there's a place with better food and beer across the street called Augustiner. Also the BMW musuem is a must see along with the olympic park.

For London:

Food
Bar Boulud at One Hyde Park
Indian Food: A must while in the UK. Go walk down brick lane and negotiate a meal. It's literally a street with nothing but indian restaurants and guys coming up to you trying to get you to come in. My favorite is a BYOB place called Tayabs near brick lane. Full Disclosure, this area is super hipster.
Hix in SoHo. Never eaten there but i hear it's great. They have an amazing cocktail bar downstairs.
Brindisi (SoHo): Awesome Spanish tapas place

As far as markets go i went to the Sunday Upmarket in East London all the time and love it, but it's super hipster. Portabello market is also good.

Definitely go to Harrods. Make sure you also shop around Oxford Street/Regents Street where most of the shops are located although it is mostly chains.

This is where foursquare is so great so I can remember what I hit there.

- The "locks" thing was pretty meh but everybody seems to like to do it. It's where the fish swim from a river back to the ocean or something.
- Shorty's bar was cool....is a bar with an old school pinball arcade in it.   Think King's Hardware was in the same neighborhood and also a cool bar.
- Pikes Place Market - See things you did just to say you did them thread
- Some boat tour that goes around the bay was cool if you like to oogle skylines (I do)

Hey emaw world travelers, need your help

just booked a 1 week vacation in October to Portugal

anyone have any experience there, if so what does tramp and his wife need to do

i've been to lisbon twice.  never anywhere else in portugal, except as passing through on the way to lisbon.

don't really have any advice, i don't think there's any way you can go wrong.  lisbon is utterly and completely fantastic, you'll love it.  the only thing i can perhaps think you might want to be aware of is that people will try to sell you drugs.

porto is supposed to be equally great or better, but i've never been there.
