I have some frontier vouchers I have to use before the end of june and already have three other trips booked btwn now and mid june, so just looking for an inexpensive short wknd the wife and I can do.  We will basically be able to get there for like $20/ea and neither of us has been before.   Its either dc or Denver(short, direct, cheap flights), and we've done Denver.

i used to like to drive to/through parts of the country i'd never seen.  partly just to see what it looked like, what the air tasted like, etc.  was fun.

what's weird is I like flying somewhere and then renting a car and driving around. I guess the midwest (which is great) has just made me hate driving in the roughly 10 hour derivable area around the midwest.

with the invention of the internet and things like google street view, i predict that travel will be obsolete within 10 years.  people will take virtual trips from the safety and comfort of their own living rooms and will never have to worry about standing in that stupid customs line again.

the safety of the internet will be harnessed to everyone's joy.

Know two guys that pretty much never leave a certain county in Kansas.  It's a phobia.

Spring training fun? Will have access to a house next year for that and Phoenix open. I know I want to do the Phoenix open, trying to decide if I should do both.

Yeah, it's a good town for a three day weekend. Decent nightlife, good food (place called "the arrogant butcher" is especially good) and cheap. Weather beats the hell out of kc in february.

I don't want to overhype it, but spring training is pretty great. Tickets are eight bucks, no one really monitors where you sit, you can watch players hit in the cages. I bought a ticket for the outfield plaza and moved down to the first row behind home plate. I was about three feet from ned yost and eavesdropping on his conversation with dave eiland. It's basically a minor league baseball game environment but with the major league roster.

If anyone goes down, check out a bar called Salty Senoritas. Beach volleyball, tailgating games, young crowd. It's in glendale.

Anyone ever tried airbnb.com? Seems pretty legit if you don't have the hotel points or if you have a big group.

So, does my Hilton Gold status get me anything other than free wifi at Embassy Suites? I'm not noticing a discount in prices.

500 extra HH miles per stay plus 25% more points earned per $1 spent, two bottles of water, late check out, some other garbage:

Ironing sucks. That's why I take everything to the dry cleaners.

you can pretty much either embrace ironing or stop traveling...at least until you can afford to charter your own jet so you can hang all your clothes. if you have a suit that you're not going to need immediately you can usually give it to the concierge to have pressed for you, but you're not going to want to do that for all of your shirts.

this stuff is pretty boss for slight wrinkles and t-shirts and stuff but it's not going to replace an iron.
