Going to Chicago on a whim tomorrow with some miles that were going to expire at year end. Flight is at 5:55am ( :sdeek:) and I have absolutely nothing planned. Take the orange line to the loop and get weird I guess  :dunno:

Maybe the aquarium? eff, I have no idea. Gino's East? ummmmm Sears Tower? Whatever. Go cats.

I'm familiar.

Personally, I like the Field Museum much better than the aquarium.  Plus, it can easily keep you out of the cold for a full day if you want.  You can ride up to the restaurant at the top of the Hancock building for free.  It has a better view than the Willis Tower.  Just get a drink or something when you're up there.  Post updates plus a recap in Steve Dave's European vacation thread.

Get to Chicago, drink, then come home. That's a solid trip.

My parents have been there and rave about it. It's apparently one of the most beautiful cities of the south. If you appreciate giant trees and old houses and parks and things like that you will probably like it. If not, probably not then I guess.

I haven't been, but I've known plenty of people who have.  Although I mostly zoned out when they talked about it, the old downtown historic area is the place to go.  (Maybe kind of obvious.) I've spent tine around those parts and I'd recommend chatting with locals and experiencing the hospitality/gentility stuff, which I can find both charming and annoying.

I went there when I was a kid.

Only thing I remember was the bench where forrest gump sat is located in Savannah and that they have lots of old timey ghost tours.

Exact same thing with my parents.  Old people love Savannah

hopefully you're there long enough that you pick up their accent and begin to talk like you're from savannah.  a savannah speaking person would really stand out in the quad city metroplex or anywhere.

How to go to a diner in Savannah, Georgia

you'll ask around a park
on main street
where
you ask the folks
who are not in a hurry
so you can find it

Pretty sure all of London is being completely re-done. Stood in one spot today and counted 9 cranes that I could see.

I saw you at the Fiesta bowl, but didn't say hi. By the time you wandered in we were already losing and I was upset. :(

You definitely should have said hi.  I was having a blast.
