I like cruises as a way to see a number of places, then decide where I want to go back to and actually spend some more time to really experience it.  With that in mind, I think they'd be great for kids as they'd have a whole lifetime ahead to explore in more detail.  Add in the kids clubs that provide free babysitting throughout the day and it seems like a big win.

i will absolutely not go on a cruise again except maybe when i am in the viking target demo. who can say what i will want to do when i'm 64?

I'm not a fan of being herded but I am a big cruise fan, not Viking, those seem horrible. Can eff off and do what you want and avoid any crowds very easily. Good for groups that want to do different things.

My parents are absolutely cruise fiends and have probably been on over 50. They are currently in Australia/New Zealand for a month and are doing two weeklong cruises while there.

Caribbean cruises? Check times a bagillion.

Mediterranean cruise? Check

Viking river cruises? They were the youngest people

2 week USA to Europe cruise? Check

Alaska cruise? Check

2 week Singapore to los Angeles cruise with stops in the Philippines/Hawaii etc? Later this year!

I haven't been on a cruise in a long time.  However, the last time I was on one we rolled about 40 deep in family and friends.  One night, we were sitting in a corridor area between two bars drinking our ass off and bullshitting.  Somehow the evening devolved into strangers joining us and eventually an impromptu talent show with stupid human tricks broke out.  It was great entertainment for us.  Toward the end of the night some of the staff brought us a couple platters of crown and cokes and asked that we take the party up to the top deck.  We were just finishing our drinks when we pulled into port in the morning and it was time to start the shitty process of getting off of the boat.

We're doing an all inclusive Cancun deal in a couple weeks in order to attend a wedding. Booked it and then two weeks later found out Mrs. Stevesie was pregnant. So she will not be able to enjoy the most important thing that we've already paid for.

Cruising is the most frugal way to see tons of random places and they are all about it.
