After baseball season wraps next summer we're going to Colorado for about 2 weeks. I'm not a CO n00b but I've normally just went to ski/board with the boys and have only been with my family one time during summer. sd, mrs. sd, lil sd (age 10 by then), lil sdette (age 7 by then). So far our plan is:

2 nights Denver for 2 Rockies games. Probably just hotel point near the stadium here unless someone has other ideas.
2 nights in mystery place. park hyatt beaver creek? have the points for it. could get connecting rooms. no idea if beaver creek will be snoozeville for 2 days or if they have summer stuff. open to any and all suggestions here.
7 nights in estes park airbnb. have this booked. do a lot of RMNP, UTV tour, and rafting, and hiking stuff. touristy town but that's right in our wheelhouse as tourists.

any suggestions for those middle two days? could just do 4 in Denver but I don't know what Denver has for our age ranges.

When my kids were that age we stayed in Keystone and did a bunch of things in summit county that  were fun. Keystone had a covered wagon ride dinner outing that was cool. We rode the gondola up and things like that. There’s also a mine by Breck you can tour that was fun for them.

They have a Meow Wolf exhibit that is great for adults on drugs and/or kids (sober).  Close to the stadium is probably a good location to stay.  You could probably also walk to the aquarium from there to see the tigers.

meow wolf would be fun activity for you and your kids
Hop Alley is one of my favorite restaurants and it's in the same area as coors field. not sure if your kids would like it or not. there are also tons of other places around there though

we spent a couple hours at meow wolf in may and the only thing that i could think the whole time was how much star seed 7 would have enjoyed it more than I could

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Can't speak for the enjoyment of your kiddos or the missus, but when I go to Colorado, I like to wander off in the North Park area unarmed, carrying nothing but my bedroll and a bottle of whiskey. I don't return until I have a murdered moose slung across my shoulders. People don't realize it, but Colorado now has 3,000 wild moose living there. Well, I guess it's more like 2,994, now ...

I doubt I could carry more than one moose at a time.

I'm not a superhuman. I can only carry one moose myself, but I've been six times.

Take a couple of your 4 extra days and go to Salida and if the lil SDs are good swimmers the boogie boarding and surfing in the river is great.   The city closes the streets downtown so you can get blasted on Hazy IPAs while the kids bike or skate around.

they are excellent swimmers but that is pretty far away from where we are. I guess seeing the royal gorge could be checked off the list while down there though.

It's also way too late in the season to be cavorting in the wonderful Arkansas River.

yeah, my spring/summer are now completely scheduled until mid july. we have like that three week window after state baseball and before school starts where everything is overrun with people in the same situation. I'm trying to wield my assistant coach powers to pressure our HC to not plan any tourneys, games, or practices for spring break. we'll see how that goes.

chicat (all others feel free to help me as well) I texted you but in case you changed your number or whatever since we haven't spoken in like 2 years would this location serve as a good home base in Denver? We may just do 4 nights here and then the 7 in estes because I think I have a smoking deal on a 2br apartment at this place.
