This whole conversation is ridiculous. The only reason to get paper is if you check a bag, and the only reason to check a bag is golf clubs or guns.  Use the app you geezers.

And bikes.

Speaking of which, anyone ever traveled to Nova Scotia or Montreal?

Interesting coverage of the Little Jerusalem badlands in Western KS. May need to visit soon. These kids make cool travel vids.

I know, but I cheated. I would never be caught dead in this airport or part of the country, ever again :Yuck:

Spent the weekend down at Big Cedar near Branson.  Pretty impressive place.  Would be great for families, though a bit pricey.

Have thought about this for like Thanksgiving with family. Did you get a house or hotel room or what?

I would get a cabin. I think they have both hotel type rooms and then separate cabins. We did a cabin once and it was a decent time. The kids liked having a separate spot with a fireplace and  deck. In the end, it prob doesn't matter much because you are just going to spend 30 billion dollars at the arcade everyday anyway. At least that's what we did.

We got a little one room cabin at Camp Long Creek.

It's about a 7 minute drive over to the Big Cedar area proper, but our area was also part of the whole BCL compound.  Plenty of bars/fine dining/spa/lake sport stuff for adults, but Mrs. DQ and I talked about how perfect it would be if you had a couple small kids.  Tons of crap geared for them.  Thanksgiving/fall time would be a great time to go.

Dogwood Canyon (basically a private Bass Pro Shop park) is absolutely incredible.  Guided fishing in the stream.  Some tours to see elk/bison.  Horseback riding.  Bikes/walking trails.

Tips? What places are must see? If you have to choose between the southern half or the northern half for a bike tour, what would you choose?

They're literally the same rough ridin' place, including Memphis adjacency. The tiebreaker is one has coastline and the other doesn't.

What time of the year are you going? I've never been there when it is cold, because to hell with going north when it's cold. As much as I like Montreal, I don't know if I'd consider anything "must see." Depending on when you're going to be there, watching the Canadiens is probably the most memorable thing I've done there. They are really into hockey. Most everything you want to see are all accessible by bike or walking; the port, Old Montreal, Downtown, Chinatown, and The Red Light District are all adjacent. Again, don't know when you're going and whether or not you're going with kids, but jet boating is cool, as is La Ronde. The islands are pretty cool. The casino is  but I'm not really into them. I like hanging out at McGill's campus. And everyone will tell you to get a sandwich at Schwartz's Deli, we've discussed it on this board, problem is that you have to get in line for a smoked meat sandwich, and by line, I don't mean 20 minutes either.

I've never thought about Montreal in terms of north and south, but most of the things I have done there are definitely south. It's a cool city, an interesting mix of north america and europe. The french canadians can be rude as eff, the embodiment of what americans think of Parisians, which isn't actually true of them. I do like going there, but there aren't a lot of places that are going to blow your mind.

did you see the treehouse at Dogwood Canyon? The kids were watching that show where they build awesome treehouses the other night and it featured the construction of their treehouse.

Yes, saw the treehouse.  It’s right up close by the visitor center.  Looked pretty cool, but Mrs. DQ and I didn’t really bother with it.

North/south question was about Nova Scotia, but I appreciate the intel on Montreal! THANKS.

Ah, I see. I said kinda to Nova Scotia because I've only spent a few hours in Yarmouth going to and from on the cat ferry from Bar Harbor.
