guys I'm about to pull the trigger on a Delta status match. Been a United man for about 10 years and I'm kinda nervous. LGA and JFK are just so much easier for me than EWR (especially LGA).

Got United Platinum last year and I'm not sure if I'll be able to hit that match challenge, but I might be able to get gold.

michigancat you've made the correct decision. ironically i did the opposite status match two years ago (delta->united) but didn't get to see it through because of covid. i only did that because the route/schedule was 10x better for what i needed. delta is the superior airline. (still diamond on delta because they keep extending it, seat 2d to DTW this evening :gocho:)

yeah my worry is I won't be able to schedule enough flights in a three month window. I'm pretty sure I can piece together silver immediately but not sure beyond that.

Nice thing with Delta is they let you rollover unused MQMs each year.  So if you don’t quite make it to the higher status level one year, you’ve got a head start at it for the next year.  Add a delta Amex to cover the MQD requirement, and you’re all set.

And they may just let you rollover everything again next year.  I’m going to hit platinum for the first time because they’ve kept extending my gold status without charging any miles for it during COVID.

If any of you bloggers (or your loved ones) are strippers or whores who reside in California, there is an exiting new program being offered by Alaska Air that might significantly cut commute cost to Vegas.  Degenerate gamblers could probably also benefit from this. Perhaps even northern Californians looking to escape Antifa to the friendly militia bases in Arizona (or conversely escape the militias for Sodom and Gomorrah.

How is there not a high speed train between LA and Vegas? Never understood that. Guess LA I so spread out not a great central spot to terminate

I don't know how that will work if I'm short on the status match period. but yeah that's a pretty good perk

for business class, yes

Quote
Delta SkyMiles
NerdWallet analysis finds that Delta SkyMiles are worth 1.3 cents per mile for economy class flights or 1.5 cents in business class.

United MileagePlus
United miles are worth just 1 cent each in economy or 2.4 cents per mile in business class.

American AAdvantage
Unlike Delta and United, American publishes an award chart showing how many AAdvantage miles you need for an award flight on American or any of its dozens of partner airlines.
American miles are worth around 1.2 cents each for economy class flights and 2.5 cents for business class.

maybe it's a function of where i want to fly, but united miles are by far the best for me, aa are good for off-season sales as long as you don't want to go anywhere hard to get to and delta is a scam.

I’d be shocked if that gets built.

I have had United status for years and rarely been able to use miles. Probably because my personal travel is almost always during peak times. I just want the status

Delta is amazing, upgrades are top notch, getting to have lounge access at gold is great, as is the bags (which they are slowly moving towards making one free anyways and dropping change fees).

I've never really had a bad experience on Delta at all, and I literally fly it exclusive internationally. Domestic is still got some SWA mixed in but depending domestic Delta is hard to beat (for me).

Can't imagine doing United or AA, just  :Yuck:

Once I start up my Canada travel again soon it's going to racking up a lot of miles again which I'm am going to be happy for.

The lounge at gold is a great perk. I have a friend who always flies United business and got 1k and he basically can't get into a lounge unless he's flying internationally with them.

I'm stuck here in Detroit, because of the weather. They have zero flights directly to KC tomorrow, so I need to go through Minneapolis and will be hanging there most of the day before my flight home. Anyways, I just saw that they put me in 1st class on the way to MSP.  I've never sat up there before. Are drinks free and how many can I get on that short of a flight? How do I look like I've been there before? TIA!
