Drove through Tulsa yesterday. First time ever in Tulsa. Stopped at a QT in Tulsa and it was as Oklahoma-y an experience as I've ever had. That is not a compliment.

the last time i was in OK i was struck by how many giant signs there are eveywhere. it's so gross. like they don't have any restrictions on signage so every single business in a strip mall has its own enormous sign on a 50' pole out by the street.

In my head, I thought a lot of Indian Casinos were like the one by Topeka.  Was surprised at how many are steel sheds on my last drive through Oklahoma.

There are 2 types of OK casinos.  For each tribe there is 1 main casino that is usually pretty nice with a few good restaurants, buffets, & bars, a decent concert venue, a spa, & nice hotel.  A couple tribes bought golf courses and built next to the course.  They also have very good regional conference centers to fill the hotels during the week.

Those same tribes then have a lot of satellite casinos right next to the road where you can spend $1,000 gambling to earn $40 in points to use at the main casino.  It's an amazing business model.

I remember stopping at one just across the river from TX and it being a complete crap hole. It was literally a tractor shed with some hideous carpet thrown down.

Biz travelers, its Marriott mega bonus time again starting May 27.  Time to hit multiple Marriott properties each week in order to rake in a boat load of bonus points.

Lol, gottlieb deleted his tweet at united bitching about the luggage rules for his extra basic economy ticket.

We'd have likely already gotten all the value from hiring him before these brown level tickets became a thing, but maybe we did dodge a bullet.

I'm going to Cologne next week. Just wanted to tell everyone.

Pretty boring town as far as I could tell. the Kolsch is pretty delicious though. Apparently it's a big tourist spot for Germans? :dunno:

For my final act of my companion pass year, I am going to take my wife and kids to Costa Rica.  Going over thanksgiving.  It's the later side of their transition from end of rainy season to beginning of their dry season.

Most importantly, we are going to stay where they have a eff ton of monkeys.  I love them.

Pacific coast.  Going to stay in the Manuel Antonio national park area.  Best combination of lots of wildlife, easy/safe drive from San Jose, and beaches.

I am renting a car, so I wanted to be where gringos can get around easy.  You know I don't speak Spanish!

We flew into Liberia and was on the north coast there and loved it. FYI I will be a little hotter than you are used to in the Caribbean. Also be  prepared for them (costa ricans) to not shut the eff up about how good their coffee is (FYI it is really good). Also they will wear the eff out of you with their Pura Vida saying.

Did you drive at all while you were there?
Was about a 30-40 min drive from the airport to our resort. We only left the resort by land once and that was by ATV which was an awesome trip. Took ATV's from our beach up into the jungle to zip line then to another beach and back. Most times we left the resort was by boat to scuba or go to another beach area.
this is where we stayed.

Oh and there are howler monkeys ever-y-where.
