and the rich get richer... southwest shareholders around the world congratulated AA on this bold move.  what complete dumbasses.
Flew Louisville to Baltimore on Southwest this week. Amazed at all the legroom and overhead space. I may stop flying AA.  :Wha:

Personal opinion but a day trip to Napa is enough, but I'm not a wine dude

Agree on 3 nights in Napa being too long. I feel like that can be a day trip but I suppose if you're really into the food scene there you could spend more time. There are plenty of day tours that can pick you up in SF and take you to a few wineries and get you the general idea of the place. Could save you from renting a car. IMO you've seen one winery you've seen them all.

you should do the cable car on the Powell-Hyde line even though it's touristy. It's worth walking around Chinatown and along the Embarcadero too.

Museum nights are good on Thursday nights (or so I've heard).

You're far enough out you could try to get a reservation at State Bird Provisions (just need to log in at midnight pacific 60 days out and hope for the best)

Could recommend specific events depending on specific nights you're in town and what you're interested in when you get closer.

We did 3 days SF and 2 days Oakland for a wedding last year.    Looked at going to RR but decided it wasn't worth the drive (no tour, etc.).    Did hear great things about State Bird Provisions but didn't have reservations.    The one main touristy thing we did was Alcatraz for the night tour and it was better than expected.    Definitely rent a car and hit Muir Woods.  Sausalito was kind of a bust, nothing of interest really.   There'a a bar called Noc Noc recommended by someone on CP thats supposed to have a good tap list, but we ran out of time.   Several people told us if we had more time we should drive down the 1 to Monterrey and see the aquarium.  Taqueria El Farolito in the Tenderloin is a local favorite and didn't disappoint.      We also ate at Hunam Homes in Chinatown, but it wasn't anything outstanding, and the rest of Chinatown was snoozefest...

I've done Napa, and agree that unless you plan on doing multiple wine tours, a day trip is enough.

Congrats BTW!

I ate at Namu Gaji, Cockscomb, and Foreign Cinema last time I was there.  Rich table was also a favorite of mine from a previous trip.  Foreign Cinema was probably a bit over hyped foodwise but had a cool atmosphere.  The rest were all excellent.

Oxbow market in Napa was pretty cool.

I've stayed at the Andaz Napa and Embassy Suites Napa. The embassy is kinda nice in that their afternoon drinks always have non-crappy local wines. the andaz is downtown napa which is good/bad depending on what you're looking for. nice bar there. easy walking to everything. I always use points so I know nothing about non-chain places.

When there's international crises happening at airports across usa, or just generally, how do people who aren't flying anywhere get to go past the security checkpoints?  Or is this a pre-security McD's?
