Just took a train from Pittsburgh, PA to NYC. First time I've been on a long distance train in America. Pretty sweet. Has anyone else been taken a multiple hour train ride in the U.S.?

I've done Holland, MI to Chicago. It's probably about the same distance. LOVE IT. Would travel everywhere on trains if it was significantly cheaper than flying.

DC>NYC

Passenger rail is p good in the NE.  Slower than flying, yes, but much more comfortable (more legroom/room in general).

Completly different than Pitt to NYC, but I took a train from anchorage to Seward, AK and back (4 hrs one way).  It was amazing.

Yeah, agree, pretty great. Once took the Capital Limited through historic Harpers Ferry to DC, then Acela up to Newark.

I've taken Amtrak from Topeka to Chicago and from Whitefish, MT to Minneapolis. I love the extra legroom, more space to walk around and seeing the scenery. I don't like the slowness and the fact that both trips were late getting to my destination. Also, you can bring your own booze :drink:

Took amtrack from KC to Chicago in high school. A sewage line busted, made the whole train smell and stopped travel for an hour+ while they worked on fixing it. It was awful.

Took Amtrak KC to Chicago RT and loved it. So relaxing. Had a nice dinner convo with some randos, then went back to my booze (that I brought)

Nashville has a pretty nice open beer garden area and lets you walk your beer around....I enjoyed that.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.
