10 hour layover in Japan (Narita), I really want go into Tokyo (Shinjuku?) any advice?  Like do i have enough time to enjoy it and what should i focus on seeing?

with a 10 hour international layover you won't have a lot of time with all the garbage you will have to do on each end of exiting and returning. pick one thing and take your time then get something to eat.

I'm gonna overrule steve dave here.

Find an info desk and ask how long it would take total. (Also Google before you go)...Lots of the big intentional hubs encourage city excursions for long layovers and an info desk can give you an idea of customs lines, which I'm guessing will be pretty quick. Narita is like a 90 minute train ride to downtown which would give you plenty of time to have a meal and walk around. Plus Narita is pretty pud for restaurants and things to do.

As long as you don't bring some stupid canvas carry-on like a dumbass you'll be fine.

So, that trip with FreundunSonntag is coming up, looking for some thinks to do in St. Louis.  Got a hotel DT for the nigh but only going to halve like half a day to kill.  Are there any must sees to stop by while we're there?  Was thinking about just doing an Arch tour but it seems pretty small-timey.

That does look neat!  However we'll be there on a Sunday and they don't open until 11AM, and i think we need to hit the road by like noon.  Got a CousinSonntag getting married next February in the Lou, i'll have to plan some time for it.

the Budweiser and Schlafly brewery tours are neat. there's an incredibly filthy strip club on the Illinois side called Roxy's. this is the extent of my St Lois knowledge.

Do people actually choose American Airlines?  They have to be the worst, 5 hours to get to Dallas, now can't get to gate.

going back a week or so.  italy is way more historic, better arch than spain.  spain is more new worldy.  nice tho, not discouraging spain.  better for drinking and meeting locals.

milan sucks.  venice is otherworldly.  crazy great city, but disneyfied.  plan everything around crowd avoidance/off the beaten pathiness if you go there.  bologna is a great stopover between rome and venice.  great city off the tourist circuit.  rome is probably the greatest city in the world.

if you go to spain, and go to more than just madrid/barcelona, try to hit portugal.  well worth the effort.

paris is also great.  hard to do well as cheap as italy/spain.

trains are great in italy, suck in spain.  spain has buses.  don't forget about the budget airlines, tho.  may make more sense than training/chunnelling all over the place.  don't try to move too much in 10 days.  gets old.  don't be afraid to rent a car and drive.  just don't keep it/use it when you're in cities.  but can make life super easy for getting between cities, seeing the countryside.

Thanks, Sys.  Great advice.  Appreciate it everybody.  Now for another wrinkle.  We're looking at going From London to Paris to Rome.  Would you rather go through Cannes-Nice-Monaco or Venice on your way from Paris to Rome? Or just bypass both and go straight to Rome for more time?

venice.  tho it's not really on the way (by land).  nice is good.  cannes/monaco wouldn't interest me at all.

lyon/grenoble/turin/genoa more on the way.

for 10 days, 3 cities would be plenty for me.

all airlines do that.  I live in Dallas and AA flies direct to pretty much the entire world from here so yeah I go with them.

I went with AA to get to Houston.  They nickle and dime you for aisle or window seats, and even some middle seats towards the front.

And most of that crap will be available at the hotel if you need it. A sewing kit? Sounds great if you're the worst dumbest traveler in history.
