So I guess now we're thinking we might want to go somewhere we haven't been in June instead of New York.
Any suggestions on where we could go using our BA and UR points?

I hear Gary, Indiana is nice in June.
Close! Chicago it is. Will be staying longer than my usual 18 hours though.

I'm probably missing an entire Vegas eatery thread somewhere, but I'm headed there for a conference next week.  I haven't been there in five years, so a lot's probably changed since I've been last.

Any specific restaurant that I should hit up?  Probably won't do too much boozing and the like since I'll be there for work and on my own, so there's that.

Will you have a car, or will you be mainly confined to the strip?

Intercontinental Presidente.

Anything worth seeing in town or is it like a border town/tourist trap?

Also, what fun stuff did you do/fun places would you recommend?

that's a very nice hotel cns casey.

here is my overall opinion of cozumel- it's kind of a dump with mostly dumpy places. like imagine that boring drive through the florida keys before you get to key west where all the buildings look like they were built in 1972 and 1/4 of them are unoccupied... that's basically cozumel. it's a tiny little island that cruise ships dock at. the main street along where the main cruise dock is basically this-carlos and charlies...t-shirt shop...t-shirt shop...little hotel...bank...jewelry store...jewelry store...hooters....t-shirt shop...little hotel...t-shirt shop... anyway, you get the idea.

i can't recommend much because i mostly just hung out at the AI pool bar. what i do know is that you have some of the absolute best snorkeling and scuba diving in the world there so def do one or both of those. plenty of places to just snorkel off the beach too so don't pay for that. basically i recommend drinking and either scuba or snorkel the rest of the time.

thanks.

you and most of the internet agrees.

I think we will do the Mayan ATV tour, although the mayan ruins look like backyard sheds according to Google Earth.  We may also see if the tequila place does a tour.

Other than that, our plan was to get turnt up/burnt up.

Also, we booked a Reef Room, so we should be able to basically roll out of bed, take like 50 steps out the slider and snorkel.  Will def try this out.

Rick, how safe is it there?  There is a bar or two just a half mile or so south of the hotel.  Would you feel safe walking there in the evening?

Internet says its a super safe place but doesn't give much detail.

i think you'd be just fine. i stayed at the park royal which is a little north of it. there are actually two places ships dock on cozumel and one of them is right by your hotel. once you start to go south of your hotel things start to get a little more barren though i think. more action/people north. also, that port/terminal is a little north and there is a carlos n charlies or something generic inside of it.

You son of a beach...

i would have never guessed that.  one of my talents (beyond guessing a person's profession based upon a photo) - is being able to guess what words in other languages mean

so far the list of words that i've failed on is pretty short-
playa (guess:  plywood) truth:  beach
pregunta (guess:  pregnant)  truth:  question

I have a question for you, playa: have you ever been sitting a piece of plywood while pregnant at the beach?

I was planning on staying just on the strip and getting some exercise by walking.
