they seem to have a high center of gravity, susceptible to tripping imo.

Has anyone with very young children, taken a separate flight than the significant other?

We have 2 big trips this year without the kids.  And family members are pulling the concerned card because we aren’t taking separate flights.  I don’t plan on changing that, but wondered if this was a common practice here.

No. We flew to San Diego in February and wrote something out for my mom and dad in case one in one billion chances happened. Just write something out and sign it.

Mrs. Wacky’s grandpa flew everyone to Cabo once and regretted looking back, just in case something crazy happened. He readjusted on the flights back. There was about 40 of them.

We have all the legal stuff taken care of if something catastrophic happens, so that’s all fine.  And we’ve traveled and the left the kids with family before.  I think the Uvalde shooting has brought up fears of mortality (family member is a teacher).  I used to travel all the time and ran into people that did this, but didn’t have kids and never thought twice about it until a family member seemed concerned both of us are flying together.

Totally makes sense. We’re in our late 30’s and can’t reproduce due to science. He loves my folks, so we just did it. I did have anxiety the whole flight there about it tho.

Lay off the caffeine, Mich. It’s a reasonable thought process by younger parents that haven’t traveled the globe.

Yeah, I'm not trying to be rude, but I did not know this was an actual thing people worried about.

For the record, this was early 2000’s before me. They might have been the Khardasians of Shawnee at the time with the defenbaughs on their ass for no reason.

I can’t imagine trying to one up people trying to protect their families in this type of climate, but here you guys are, congrats! (Especially the ones without kids)

I wouldn’t even consider myself the head of household.  Like i said, family members started pressing the idea.  Wanted to make sure i wasn’t being a difficult ahole by not taking the idea under any consideration.

I can't quite put my finger on why I think it is so ridiculous (aside from being statistically irrational) but it is absolutely absurd and I have never heard of it as a concept outside of the president and vice president.

Maybe it's a little bit narcissistic/martyr-ish? Maybe I'm just a weirdo? Either way you should take the same flight as your wife.

I knew the Bramlage family that died in a plane crash together, which was awful. But they were flying a small plane and that is not something that would cross my mind.
