Skiing is totally a status thing, so I understand why certain posters are so passionate about it

Skiing is totally safe if you're not a reckless dumdum. Of all my friends who have skied over the years, I only know 3 personally who have died.

How many died while skiing, though?

Went on a 6 day Caribbean cruise with my parents and siblings last week. We used to go on cruises when I was in Middle/High School over spring break and I enjoyed them but this time....Woof. Way to many people.

One of the destinations was Costa Maya MX which is a new port. Their is a cool beach town about 2 miles south of there but in order to get there you have to walk through a labyrinth of manufactured "Mexico". Imagine 10,000 people (3 ships docked) all trying to make their way through this maze lined with shitty shops, $5 beers and people dressed up as Aztec Warriors dancing. It took me 35 minutes from the time I got off the ship to the time I made it to the line for transportation to the beach.

The beach was pretty cool with free chairs to lay on and some bars around it selling $2 Sol.
